Happy Ber Months lantern

A quiet word about privacy.

Short, plain, honest. Sit with it for a moment.

Happy Ber Months is a small, personal place on the internet. The aim of this page is to tell you, in plain words, what is collected and what is not when you visit.

The short version

If you only read the bullets, here they are:

  • No analytics, no tracking pixels, no cookies are set when you visit this site.
  • The only personal data ever collected is your email address, and only if you choose to subscribe to The Monthly Ber newsletter.
  • You can unsubscribe at any time. Just reply to a newsletter or write to cosey@happybermonths.com.
  • I will never sell, swap, or share your email with anyone.

Who is responsible

This site and the newsletter are run by Jonny Elliott (the same person who writes and hosts the Ber With Me podcast). The data controller, in legal terms, is me. You can reach me at cosey@happybermonths.com.

What I collect, when, and why

Browsing the site. Nothing is logged, profiled, or tracked. There are no first-party cookies. There are no analytics scripts. Your visit is essentially anonymous.

The newsletter. If you subscribe to The Monthly Ber, the signup form (hosted by Typeform) collects your email address so I can send the newsletter once a month. It is the only thing I will use that email for. Your email is stored on Typeform and, when I send the newsletter, copied to whichever delivery service is in use at that time. Unsubscribe links are included on every newsletter, and replying with the word "unsubscribe" works fine too.

Emailing me. If you write to cosey@happybermonths.com I will keep that conversation in my inbox for as long as it is useful. Treat it like any normal email exchange.

Third parties on this page

A few external services are used to make the site work. None of them set tracking cookies as part of the site itself, but if you click through to them their own privacy policies apply.

  • Google Fonts serves the typefaces used on this site. Google may log basic technical information (such as your IP address) when fonts are loaded.
  • Typeform hosts the newsletter signup form. Their privacy policy covers what happens there.
  • Spotify and YouTube links open in a new tab. Listening or watching is governed by their own terms.
  • Netlify hosts this site. They may keep short-lived server logs for security and performance, including IP addresses, but do not share these with me.

Cookies

This site does not set any cookies. If that ever changes, a clear notice will appear on this page first, and you will be asked before anything optional is set.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask me to:

  • Tell you what I hold on you (usually just an email address, if you have subscribed).
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete it (a one-line email is enough).
  • Stop using it for the newsletter.

If you are not happy with how I have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

If anything material changes (an analytics tool, a new third party, a change to the newsletter setup), I will update this page and note the date below. There is no need to subscribe to learn of changes; the latest version is always here.
